Do CCENT Network certification exam just for kicks?

Now you are not going to be doing the CCENT network certification exam just for kicks. You do it because you have a higher purpose and that purpose is to continue on a Cisco track. CCENT stands for Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician, by the way.

This is what Cisco says about this cert,

" "Validates the skills required for entry-level network support positions, the starting point for many successful careers in networking. Candidates should have the knowledge and skill to install, operate and troubleshoot a small enterprise branch network, including basic network security.

CCENT certification is the first step toward achieving CCNA, which covers medium size enterprise branch networks with more complex connections."

People also choose this network certification exam to make the CCNA easier

With the CCNA, you have two choices. Either sit for the whole thing in one go ( it's exam CCNA 640-802.) or sit for it by doing 2 exams.

The first option is difficult, the second option makes it more easy. Plus there is a bonus.

When you do the exam ICND1 640-822, which is the CCENT, you are half way there.

When you do the ICND2 640-816 after that, then you become an CCNA.

So if you get your CCNA by doing two exams, you will have 2 certifications.
