Which type of Microsoft Practice Exams should you choose?

We use Microsoft practice exams to become familair with the testing formats used in the actual exam, and also to see how much of our study material we have absorbed.

Microsoft exams come in the following formats.

Select-and-place exam items

A select-and-place exam item tests a candidate's ability to synthesize information and assemble a solution to a problem or scenario graphically. This kind of exam item can reflect architectural, design, troubleshooting, and component recognition problems more accurately than traditional exam items can because the solution is presented in a form that is more familiar to the computer professional.

Case study–based exam items

You are given a scenario with this type of format. It is usually long worded, like Bob who works at ABC is a member of the XBP group who is in charge of.... Blah Blah. The servers are situated at Blah Blah.... and more Blah Blah till you get to the essence of what is being asked. Try not to get caught up with the useless information, but concentrate on what is being asked. In your Microsoft practice exams you will be given a choice of actions to take to solve the problem of this case study based question.

Computer adaptive testing

A computer adaptive test (CAT) is customized to the individual exam taker. Examinees all start with an easy-to-moderate question; those answering the question correctly get a more difficult follow-up question. If that question is answered correctly, the difficulty of subsequent questions similarly increases. Conversely, if the second question is answered incorrectly, the following questions will be easier. This process continues only until the CAT determines the candidate's ability.

The key difference examinees notice between adaptive exams and conventional exams is that they cannot skip or go back and review previously answered items on adaptive exams. A screen at the start of the exam informs exam takers that reviewing previous items will not be allowed.
