Make your Memory Focus by using Associations. Here is how...
The deeper they are encoded - the more you remember them. You can accelerate your learning by helping your brain wire the new information you want to learn. This is called making associations.
How can you make associations with material that is giving you difficulty to remember? Because a lot of certification material has to do with memorizing it, we can help ourselves remember by tying it with something we are familiar with. Simple example: How can I make an association with RAM so I can remember exactly what it does in the exam? I would associate it with something I'm familiar with. I would associate it with my own memory, since they both work on the same concept. RAM is memory. RAM is temporary memory. Like my temporary memory it only holds things for a while. I can hold a telephone number someone just told me in my temporary memory until I quickly get to a piece of paper to record that number. After a few minutes that number leaves my mind. It doesn't go anywhere. It's not filed in my permanent memory. It just goes. When I was in the exam and wanted to retrieve what RAM is, I would think around it. I would think of my memory as I associated RAM with it and because or this, the memory of what RAM is will quickly spring to mind. Don't just try to remember material you have difficulty with. Make things easier on yourself and make your memory focus on something similar - then associate it.
