Certification Exam Help

Continue with MCSE core exams, or upgrade to MCITP?

If you started with MCSE core exams, continue with them. Get the older certs and then move on to upgrades when, and if you need them.

The MCSE is still the most sought after Microsoft certification and it will be around for a while yet. Companies are still using Windows 2000 Server (if something isn't broke, why fix it?).

It's best to always pursue the older certifications to their fullest extent (especially when companies are still using them and will be for many years) and then upgrade to the newer certs.

Consider that MCSE 2000 retired in 2008! So you have plenty of time for the MCSE 2003.

Another point to remember is with the MCSA and MCSE you have those certs for life. Sure eventually the technologies will become obsolete, but the point is that you don't need to recertify every 3 years like Microsoft's new policy on their newer ones.

Since the MCSE 2003 is the last of its run, it will still be a buzz word for a while (the newer certs have different titles).
