Sitting through the MCSE certification exam list - Should you bother with it?
I don't know of any certifications that have closed doors. Have you? Some will serve you well, others will serve you a little. But what they all do is build knowledge. And that's where the money is. The more you know, the more they need you, the more they will pay you. Making real money (not just a salary) in I.T goes beyond certification. They are just our tickets that bring opportunities. The real power is in knowledge. The MCSE certification exam (each one of them) builds knowledge.
So it doesn't matter whether you get certified? Yeah. It does. The I.T industry now works with certifications. Whether we like studying or not, we are dealing with an industry that is constantly changing and we have to change with it. Passing a MCSE certification exam will bring you one step closer to where you want to be - in the money.
