Your first job in IT will give you valuable experience. That experience you build will open more doors for you. Your next job will be better - better pay, more interesting work, more privileges. And again, the job after that will be even better.

Each position you will hold, with the knowledge and experience you get, will springboard you to your next job which will be better than the previous one.

Instead of looking at your first job in IT in terms of pay, look at it in terms of opportunities for growth. Everyone has to grow in order to reach where they will ultimately be. And it doesn't take as long as you think, if you put in the effort.

You won't be there for long - I repeat

So stop sweating the petty stuff. Don't complain that you only get paid $10-12 an hour. This is nothing compared to what you could ultimately make.

Jobs in Information Technology pay as much as your experience reaches. Now, I know that sometimes life is unfair and we don't make as much as we think we should. But there are always ways around these unfortunate situations. When something sucks in your life, this is giving you an opportunity to change it. Can't find work in your area which should pay you as much as you think you are worth? Then take action other people have taken to succeed. In other words, think outside the box....

Move to another city
Start your own business
Do something online with your knowledge (blog, website etc)
Become a technical writer
In other words... DO SOMETHING.

The more you know, the more valuable you are. The more options you have

Most people don't advance as much as they are capable of. Everyone has the potential to create the life they want - if only they put in the effort to make it so... How many brain dead people do you know that will do the same job they hate because they are too frightened to change what they don't like?

Be a doer in your life and you will reach far.
