For this IT Security Certification, should you listen to Comptia's recommendations?
If you have the 2 years experience, of course, it will be easier on you. But you can still do it. Listen to Vendors recommending experience when you are doing Advanced and Expert certifications - not entry level ones. Entry level certifications are our-foot-in-the-door. Don't start thinking you need to get a job first before doing any entry level cert or else you will go crazy. Being caught up in a catch-22 situation sucks. You know the one... You can't get a job unless you are certified - you can't get certified unless you get a job ... Type of thing. But when vendors recommend you sit for other certifications prior to sitting for this one, then pay a bit more attention. Comptia recommends you first get your Network+ and then start studying for the Security+. This recommendation makes sense. If you are a total newbie, your Network+ will help you tremendously with the Security+ because alot of material overlaps. Besides, both these certs are great to have.
