Do Information Technology Resumes that list all certs appear more professional?
--- Asked by reader
"After seeing I had a CCNP, an employer asked me whether I also had a CCNA. Dumb employer. We know that to get to the CCNP you must first pass the CCNA road. Since then I list all my certs on my resume." Submitted by Anonymous
"I've got all my certs. Makes resume look more impressive." Submitted by Valdez Eduardo, UK. Certifications: A+
"Yes I do. I also list the certifications I'm currently studying for. I find it shows that I'm actively seeking more knowledge to add to my already knowledge base." Submitted by Anonymous
"IT recruiters don't necessarily know the difference between the certifications. It's best to include them all. What if they've got an interview for you to go for where the employer requires an MCP and them not knowing the difference don't realise that you, as an MCSA also hold the MCP credential?" Submitted by Cole Tony, Australia.
"I don't find it necessary. I only list my major certs and have years to list my entry certs like A+ and network+ on my resume. I find it ludicrous to list you have an A+ when you are a CCIE." Submitted by Anonymous
"I've got a MCSE and include my MCP and MCSA certs." Submitted by Anonymous
"When your resume is screen it looks for keywords. If its looked for MCP, MCSA and you only have listed MCSE, you miss out because the screening process hasn't picked up on those keywords." Submitted by Rocha Delores, US. Certifications: CCENT, CCNA, Network+
