Once you get yourself into gear, you can accomplish in 1 year what you haven't accomplished in the past 10 years. And yes, it starts with being active. When you are looking to ace the information technology market, look beyond the obvious. Most people looking for work will post their resume on job sites aimlessly, look in newspapers and that's it.

Looking for a J.O.B sounds so boring - and IT IS

Never think of it as just looking for a job. You are looking for a company in which it will give you opportunities to excel. You won't be just working there. Your time there will give you opportunities to build skills and learn more stuff. Every company you work in, should be a step to the next level.

That company must meet your rules. Your rules can vary. It may be that you need to make a certain level of income, free training, opportunities for advancement, etc.

And the more you invest in yourself (acquire experience + knowledge) the higher your rules can be. The more you know, the better you are at it, the more they want you and will pay you. You become gold. Something that is valuable.

Want better results?

Research. Don't just send your resume aimlessly to every job that comes your way. Unless of course it's your first job. When it's your first job and experience is limited, then it's smarter to just get anything you can get your hands on (IT related) so you can get experience.

But pretty soon you will be past that stage. As you build experience and knowledge, you will have more choices. And this is where you have to be smarter about it.

Research companies you will want to work for. Research pays off. People look at others favorably when they go the extra mile. Your research about the company will benefit you when you can...

Mention why you want to work in that particular company in your cover letter. (will make it stand out).
In the interview, ask intelligent questions about the company. Mention any of their achievements. (shows you have a genuine interest and not just want to 'work' there)

Acing the Information Technology market is nothing more than putting a bit of time into getting what you want.

Think of yourself as a contractor - a highly successful one. A successful person makes choices which are based on what benefits he/she can get out of a situation.
