Increase memory with this ancient technique which works wonders

There is a method called the ‘Method of loci”. This works very well when you need to remember a lot of material for your certification, but it also works for shorter stuff as well. I also use this to remember lists.

To increase memory with this technique all you need to do is associate what you need to remember with remembering a landmark in a route you know well.

For instance, because I take the train to work everyday, I instinctly know all the stations the train stops at. And every morning when I pass these stations, I recall the material I need to remember.

So when I wanted to remember the TCP/IP Stack for example, I associated the four layers to the four stations.

 

Link layer – Bankstown station
Network layer – Punchbowl station
Transport Layer – Wiley Park station
Application layer – Campsie station

Very simple and it works.
