I heard you can get Computer Jobs from forums. Is that right?

At first I was going to answer that forums aren't computer jobs sites but then I started thinking.... "Hey, I know of people that got a job offer in the most weirdest places". So why not forums as well?

A colleague of mine was on a plane with this dude that was sitting next to him. They got to talking and the dude turned out to be an IT manager. He offered my colleague a higher position than what he was currently in at the time. The dude was my boss and it didn't surprise me when my colleague was telling me the story over a cup of coffee in the office kitchen because my then boss was notorious for hiring people in less conventional ways.

Another story.

This happened to my friend. She was at a dinner party, a small engagement and after dinner was in the kitchen helping with the dishes. She was washing, another lady was wiping them. As they got to talking my friend told her all about her job and how she was looking for an administrative position with higher pay. This lady told her of an opening in her company and my friend got the job.

I haven't received any surprise computer jobs offered to me, but then again, just because it hasn't happened to me, doesn't mean that it doesn't happen to others, right?
