Comptia Network Certification - Major benefit: No one will know what you are talking about

It's always fun being a smart ass and the comptia network certification will help you achieve just that.

When someone asks you what you do for a living, don't just tell them you are a network administrator (they will know what you are talking about), instead be a real geek (unintelligible = smart).

Hint: The OSI model makes a great topic for conversation. And you can really bore your listeners by further digging into each of the layers, what each layer does, each layer corresponds to which other one, etc. And if they don't fall asleep, then you have another ace up your sleeve. Enlighten them about the TCP/IP stack as well. Actually you will never run out of topics to talk about because there is just soooo much about networking.

Yes, you will have wonderful monologues... I mean, conversations.

But first you have to learn the darn thing

The Comptia network certification is a great cert to get under your belt. It covers the networking fundamentals and helps with the achievement of higher certs like the CCNA. Before going for the CCNA actually, people do start off with the network+ as the CCNA cert assumes you have already covered the basics.

The Network plus is a natural continuation from the A+ certification. A+ teaches you about computers (hardware and software), the net+ teaches you about networking. This is another entry certification alot of people take to broaden their knowledge base before tackling the more advance certifications.
