Comptia CTT Certification - 5 Facts to know

1. What is the Comptia CTT Certification? (what comptia says)

CompTIA CTT+ proves the mastery of core instructor skills, including preparation, presentation, communication, facilitation and evaluation in a classroom environment. Certified instructors are essential for students who want to receive top-notch training, and employers agree that a professional training staff is valuable to the company.

2. What is this certification really

This certification would suit you if you want to teach. Comptia requires it for teaching their certifications. This is a great cert to get under your belt and as a contractor you will find alot of value in it. If you are working for a company, perhaps it won't give you as much.

The only drawback is, you have to keep renewing your certifications which means lots of money and lots of study. But if this is your way of life and you are making a great income with teaching, then its a way of life you have to accept.

The comptia certification you gain for life. So if you want to teach A+, Network+ etc, then you study them, pass the exams and they are yours for life. You can then get your CTT+ and go teach.

BUT... if you want to use this cert to also teach Novel certs, microsoft certs, Cisco certs... some of those expire and you will need to keep them renewed so you can continue teaching them.

3. It counts as an elective

Other vendors don't need you to demonstrate you can teach. They rely on the Comptia CTT Certification to verify you have the ability to teach. So this cert counts as an elective for other instructor certs like MCT etc.

4. Exam details for the Comptia CTT Certification

There are two exams to pass for this certification. The:

• CompTIA CTT+ CBT Exam: TK0-201 (pass a computer based exam)
• CompTIA CTT+ VBT Exam: TK0-202 (pass a video exam)

The computer based exam (the first one, consists of 95 questions) and the passing score is 655. You have 90 minutes to complete this exam.For the video exam you have 20 minutes to complete it. And the passing score is 36.

5. This is how you proceed with the exam

First you go book your exam for the computer based exam. Pass it and then with the video exam all you do is get a group of people and do a 20 minute recording of you training them (making sure in those 20 minutes of training that you cover the exam objectives as stated in Comptia's website). Fill out the form, submit it and pay the fee.
