Does a Comptia Certificate Expire?

Expire means: you have to sit for the exam again to hold your certification current, like the Cisco certs for example.

Retire means: you can't sit for the exams anymore because they are not available anymore. But your certification is still current.

When a certification retires, it is replaced with new technologies. Example, Microsoft retired the exams for Windows 2000 and they were replaced by the XP exams. So a Comptia certification is lifelong. You pass once, you hold it forever.

But what if you sat for your A+ exam 5 years ago... Wouldn't it look 'aged' on your resume? By the time it looks 'aged' it won't matter to you anymore. We all start with entry certs and then move on. My A+ is still on my resume but it's only there to pad my resume. Since then, I've gotten many more certifications and it's those that are relevant to my career now.

Comptia gives you the option of sitting the exam again - but this is absurd

Let's say you passed an exam. You are all certified and everything but wanted to sit the exam again because the mark you got wasn't too high. Should you sit for it again? It's a waste of time and money to do this. No one wants to see your passing mark, or at least no employer was interested in seeing my pass marks.
