Does a Comptia Cert Expire?
A Comptia Cert doesn't expire or retire. (expire means that you have to sit for them again, like the Cisco exams. Retire means that you can't do the exams anymore but your certification doesn't expire - its just replaced by newer technologies).
So these are lifelong. You pass once, you hold it forever.
But what if you sat for your A+ exam 5 years ago. Wouldn't it look a bit too 'old' on your resume. The answer to this is that Comptia specializes in entry certifications. From there we move on. I mean, I wouldn't go back to renew my network+ exam again. That would be absurd.
Having these on your resume shows you know the basics. Sitting exams for them help you build a solid foundation to be able to progress from there. Once an A+ technician - always an A+ technician!!!
