Comptia Aplus, Network+ or MCDST... Which to do first?
If you are already in a customer service role which concentrates on helping users troubleshoot their XP operating system, then it will make more sense to get trained in something you are using every day, in this case the MCDST is the one we go for first. Really, there isn't a 'rule' on how you should begin your journey into information technology. Most people start with the Aplus and continue from there. After this cert, when they begin to get a feel of what kind of I.T career they want to follow, then they start making decisions on which cert to do next. What I wouldn't do though is begin with the Network+, if you don't know what the inside of a computer looks like. The Comptia APlus in a small extend does go into networks and then the Network+ takes over.
