CompTIA A Certification Complete Study Guide, Deluxe Edition

by Quentin Docter, Emmett Dulaney, Toby Skandier
Comptia a Certification: I’m fond of the sybex books because it was the first book I bought to gain my a plus certifcation (for a much older exam!). I liked the way it was written, easy to follow and laid out as not to confuse. The languge was as simple as it could get and the explanations were clear.
This is the case with this book as well. The information is well rounded and at the end of the chapter, the review questions help a lot. You also get a cd with extra exam questions and flash cards. At 900+ pages it covers quite a bit. It’s aimed at the new comptia a certification exams (220-601, 220-602, 220-603).
The deluxe version also includes a cd with over an hour of instructional video. Whether you find value in this cd or not will depend on your level of experience. As the a plus exam is aimed at the novice and so is this book, you will find value in the cds in how computers work. If you already know how the insides and outsides of computers work and are only using the book as a refresher, then the videos will be pretty useless for you.
There is also a standard version of the book (without the extra videos) for a cheaper price. Buy this, open up a computer and play around with it. This is the best way to learn anyway.
As most people start with the A plus certification I will advise you not to limit yourself to one book for your study needs. This is an excellent book but combine it with another to get a well rounded learning experience. You can now save 45% off on this book.
