Cisco CCSP Certification - 5 fact to know

1. What is the Cisco CCSP Certification (Cisco Certified Security Professional)?

This cert validates advanced knowledge and skills required to secure Cisco networks.

With a CCSP, a network professional demonstrates the skills required to secure and manage network infrastructures to protect productivity and reduce costs.

The CCSP curriculum emphasizes secure VPN management, Cisco Adaptive Security Device Manager (ASDM), PIX firewall, Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Cisco Security Agent (CSA), and techniques to combine these technologies in a single, integrated network security solution.

 

2. Are you eligible to sit for the CCSP exam?

You must already hold the CCNA Security cert OR CCNA + SND (until June 24, 2009) certs.

 

3. Passing which exams will give you the CCSP status?

You must already hold the above certs mentioned, plus pass 5 additional exams as follows:

  1. Securing Networks with Cisco Routers and Switches (SNRS);
  2. Securing Networks with PIX and ASA (SNPA);
  3. Implementing Cisco Intrusion Prevention System (IPS);
  4. Securing Hosts Using Cisco Security Agent (HPS);
  5. Securing Cisco Network Devices (SND).

 

4. Cisco Certified Security Professional Recertification

This cert is valid for three years. To recertify, pass any 642 exam that is part of the professional level curriculum after 01/01/06, or pass a current CCIE written exam.
