The Certification MCP Microsoft - 2 Important things to know
Certification MCP Microsoft was a bit confusing to me when I first laid eyes on this certification. In order to become an MCP which stands for Microsoft Certified Professional, you need to pass one exam. Let me illustrate this with an example. Let's say you wanted to become an MCP. Ok. The first thing you would need to do was to choose one of the Microsoft tracks. So... Choose a certification track you want to follow:
Let's say you chose the last one, the MCDST which is geared towards people entering the I.T industry. The MCDST consists of two exams.
Pass one (the 70-271 exam for instance) and you become an MCP. Pass both and you become a MCDST. So you are in essence gaining two certs. This is true of any other tracks you may want to follow. Choose the first exam to do and you become an MCP, do the rest of the exams and you become whatever track you chose (MCSA, MCSE etc) Isn’t the MCP a bit redundant? You may think, what is the point since when you pass all the exams required by a specific track you will become a MCDST, MCSA etc. Some employers require it. Having this certification shows employers that you can perform a set of job function–based skills within a single Microsoft product. And if you are going to follow a Microsoft track listed above, you will have to do the exam for that track anyway.
