Certification Exam 2 Formats

Linear tests vs Adaptive tests

Your certification exam with either come in a linear or adaptive format. Each vendor will tell you what format they are offering their exams. A simple way to remember what each means...

Linear test - good

Adaptive test - not good

Linear means that you get a set number of questions (say 100) and you answer all the 100 questions, from start to finish.

Adaptive means that you still get a set number of questions (say 100) but the questions change based on the answers you give.

Linear helps you more in the exam

As the questions are unchanging, you will find answers to questions you are having difficulty with further down the test. In most cases the answers won't be obvious and sometimes they will be. But the thing is, you will be given hints.
