CCNA Security Certification

1. What is the CCNA Security Certification?

	This cert is a branch of the Cisco CCNA Certification. The Security concentrates on validating skills including installation, troubleshooting and monitoring of network devices to maintain integrity, confidentiality and availability of data and devices and develops competency in the technologies that Cisco uses in its security structure.

2. Why specialize?

According to a survey commissioned by Cisco and conducted by Forrester Consulting, the need for specialized roles in an ever evolving network technology is on the rise and will continue to do so in the next five years.

3. What is needed to obtain this cert?

You must already have your CCNA certification in order to sit the exam for this one. Stands to reason really. This is a Security specialized cert.

4. The exam specs

The exam is the 640-553. You can book your exam at Vue.com. Once you pass this your certification will be valid for three years. To recertify, Pass any current CCNA concentration exam (wireless, security, voice) OR pass a current 642 professional exam, OR pass the current CCIE written exam or the current CCDE written exam.
