The 70 270 exam tests included on a cd with the book are a very important study aid and considering you get over 400 questions, its well worth the price of the book. (At the moment you can save 40% off on this book).
There are also other extras which I will mention later on but for now lets review the actual book…
It’s not without its flaws but its still a valuable study aid. It lacks in some areas like, IIS, CHAP, MS-CHAP, EFS, EAP security and VPN. Other than that, the book contains virtually everything you need to know to install, configure and administer XP. And I liked the case scenarios and troubleshooting labs included.
And it reads like a technical manual (something some people like – I found it boring, but then again its not supposed to entertain you).
Depending on your experience, if you are a newbie, I would combine it with another book.
You get two cds with the book. One of the cds contains a trial version of Windows XP, the other cd contains the test questions as we said above, a pdf version of the book, a pdf version of ‘Encyclopedia of Security,’ and a pdf version of ‘Encyclopedia of Networking.’ Excellent extras.
After your exam its still a book worthy to keep on your bookshelf as a reference.
